LAY PELICANS LAHTI @2
A match between one of the negative (Ilves) and positive teams (Pelicans) of the season.
Ilves has been very bad so far and there is no light in the tunnel. 1-0-4 at home so far. OK, they have met some good teams at home (HIFK, Jokerit, Kärpät) but I rate Pelicans at the moment the same level as these teams. This year Ilves did not bring new forwards to the team although some important players left. Yesterday they signed a new center, Antti Kangasoja. I think he will not yet be able to help the struggling team.
Everything is different in Pelicans. The champion coach, Kai Suikkanen, came and made gold out of a **** load. 3-1(OT win)-1 in away games. In their last away game they were learned a lesson by Kalpa which beat Pelicans 6-1. They immediately bounched back beating Saipa at home 4-1, although they were not playing their best play. The playing system of Pelicans is modern, players have found their roles. Ryan Lasch (winger), Markus Seikola (defender) and Niko Hovinen (goalie) are the key players in good run.
The only thing that worries me is the two latest not so good games by Pelicans. However, this may also wake them up and I expect that Pelicans will be focused after 6-1 away loss to Kalpa. My opinion is that they will beat the struggling Ilves.
